My Top 23 Recipes from 2023! From healthy dinners to delicious desserts and sultry sides, 2023 was a delicious year indeed! My personal favorites are right here.

Top 23 Recipes from 2023

Happy New Year’s Eve!

It has been another amazing year here on The Roasted Root! I thank you with all of my soul fibers for joining me on this journey.

At the end of every year, I like to share my top performing recipes from the year. This year I decided to do things differently.

Rather than sharing the recipes that got the most views, Iโ€™m giving you my personal Top 23 favorite recipes from the year. When compiling this list, I didnโ€™t take the number of views into account but rather just my own subjective experience.

Iโ€™m doing this for a couple of reasons.

First, I think these 23 recipes are truly my personal best from 2023.

We bloggers (myself included) get trapped in performance metrics. Number of views, quality of engagement, reviews, ratings, etc.

From a business standpoint, these numbers are very important, but from a self-actualization bird’s eye view? Theyโ€™re really not.

So rather than feeding you the recipes that got the most views, Iโ€™m sharing with you the recipes that I enjoyed the most. The recipes that ignited my brain, tickled my taste buds and gave me the most enjoyment while I was preparing them.

Compiling this list gave me the opportunity to look back at the year in a way that was far more meaningful than gazing obsessively at numbers.

The place where the heart drives and the expectations of how things โ€œshouldโ€ go melts away is where I find creativity.

If you made a recipe from this site and havenโ€™t had a chance to leave a review or a comment, please feel free to do so any time.

Itโ€™s never too late to share your experience and doing so helps others on their cooking adventures.

And now, here are my favorites in no particular order.

Top 23 Recipes From 2023

Crispy Salmon with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce – Perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside salmon with the creamiest, dreamiest roasted red pepper sauce. I make it dairy-free, but have included an option with dairy.

Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies – Moist, fudgy, and positively LOADED with chocolatey flavor, these easy cookies are a delicious marriage of peanut butter cookies, oatmeal cookies, and chocolate chip cookies.

Thai Chicken and Cabbage Bowls – Fresh veggies and ground turkey are brought together in a delicious Thai-inspired sauce for a well-balanced meal. The perfect clean eating meal that doesn’t skimp on flavor.

Slow Cooker Beef Bourguignon – Incredible beef stew in a rich red wine broth that tastes fancy yet is so easy to prepare! I like serving it with steamed rice or mashed potaotes.

Almond Flour Lemon Cake – Moist, fluffy, delicious grain-free cake that is packed with citrus flavor!  This simple cake recipe requires zero baking experience.

Healthy Double Chocolate Sweet Potato Muffins – Quite possibly my favorite muffin recipe on this site, these rich and fudgy sweet potato muffins are made using all good-for-you ingredients.

Crock Pot Thai Red Curry Chicken with Vegetables – If you’re a Thai food lover, this one’s a MUST make! Slow cooking curry in the crock pot allows all the flavors to fully develop and the chicken turns out so tender!

Sweet Potato Casserole with Streusel Topping – I know this is typically a holiday side dish, but I have no words to describe my hopelessly devoted love to it. I often eat it as dessert, so I give you permission to make it regardless of the time of year ๐Ÿ˜‰

High-Protein Cheesecake – Have you ever heard of such a thing? This cottage cheese cheesecake is packed with protein and is lower in fat and calories than regular cheesecake. Plus, it tastes so dreamy!

Garlic Herb Bone-In Turkey Breast – If you had told me even 4 months ago that I would have so much fun eating turkey breast, I would have called you crazy. Marinating a bone-in turkey breast was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! This is a new holiday centerpiece for me moving forward.

Easy Pumpkin Chili – A classic no matter the time of year, I love adding pureed pumpkin to classic beef chili for an ultra filling and satisfying meal. It might sound a little whacky but I highly recommend it if you enjoy chili.

Spiced Apple Carrot Muffins – I remade and re-shared this recipe from years ago and was so impressed by how the muffins turned out. They have wonderful texture and are just the right level of sweetness. A definite staple!

BBQ Ribeye Steak – Aside from crispy salmon, a perfectly grilled ribeye steak is my all-time favorite main dish. I just never get tired of the fatty, juicy beef! I included everything you need to know about grilling an amazing steak in this post.

Crispy Bang Bang Salmon Bites Bowls – Crispy little bites of glazed salmon in an Asian-inspired marinade with a creamy dipping sauce?? I couldn’t possibly be more IN!

Homemade Aussie Bites – Have you tried store-bought Aussie Bites? These come very close in taste and texture to the store-bought version and are made with all clean ingredients. Definitely one of my favorite snacks this year.

Cuban Mojo Chicken Thighs – By far one of my favorite ways of preparing chicken thighs, the citrus marinade for this recipe is pure gold. I like eating them with Cilantro Lime Rice.

Crock Pot Chile Colorado – Mexican food lovers, if you’ve never tried making Chile Colorado at home, here is your sign!! It turns out just like your favorite authentic Mexican restaurant Chile Colorado and it’s easier to make than you’d think. Serve it with Mexican Rice!

Copycat Chipotle Chicken – If you love Chipotle Mexican Grill and are all about their chicken burritos or burrito bowls, try making this copycat version at home! I’m convinced it tastes just like the restaurant version, if not better!

Now for more fun stuff.

What Was New in 2023?

I hired a new videographer to make my videos! The company is called Tried & Tasty and Iโ€™m simply obsessed with them.

Theyโ€™re organized, their work is JUICY, and they are just the greatest husband and wife team. So if youโ€™ve noticed extra saucy videos, it is thanks to Tried & Tasty.

Fun fact: I started making recipe videos in 2016. This was very short lived because I have zero passion in my body for creating videos. In fact, my Healthy 4-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse is my only video that made it on this site.

You can tell based on how shaky and blurry the video is that videography is not my strongsuit.

So videography is the one thing I hire out for this site and everything else (recipe development, photography, writing, SEO, etc.) is done by yours truly.

Favorite New Kitchen Tools:

Here are my favorite cooking tools I bought in 2023 and a short description as to why I’ve been enjoying them

Ceramic Baking Sheet: Large, sturdy, and how easy it is to clean. Non-toxic and PFOA-free.

COCOBOSS Large Walnut Wood Cutting Board: Trying to transition away from plastic, and this wood cutting board is legit!

Swiss Diamond 12.5″ Skillet – Non-toxic nonstick that’s PFOA free and diamond plated. I LOVE how large this skillet is. A must for those who batch cook large recipes.

Swiss Diamond 10″ Skillet – A smaller version of the skillet above. Honestly, this is the PERFECT skillet for pancakes!

What You Can Expect in 2024

A new site design! I actually said this in my 2022 recap post last year, but as it turns out, building a new site design can take a long, long time.

So the new design should be ready sometime in February! I think you guys are going to love how easy it is to navigate and how visually appealing it is.

Aside from that, you can expect plenty of new recipes and new videos! Creating content is my favorite part of what I do, so there are lots of delicious healthy recipes on the way.

Thank you again for being a part of The Roasted Root! Your presence here is what enables me to keep producing recipes, so the role you play here is paramount.

Cheers to 2024! I hope you have an incredible year ahead. Full of laughter, fun experiences, and life-altering eats.
