Mayo-free Green Goddess Dressing for those of us who love fresh and herby creamy salad dressings. Bring your favorite salad to the next level with this amazing, delicious dressing!

Homemade salad dressing happens almost daily in my house, because your girl eats a lot of salad.
More often than not, I make vinaigrettes, but from time to time, I need a good creamy dressing.
Creamy dressings seal the deal on big entrée salads.
They bind your blue cheese to your bacon like no body’s business. Your feta to your chicken, your gorgonzola to your steak, your cheddar to your avocado.
Well, this easy homemade green goddess dressing recipe is the icing to your salad’s cake…or something like that.
It’s rich, creamy, loaded with garlicky herb flavor, and is lower in calories than store-bought dressing. It is similar to Ranch dressing, but even more divine because of the huge infusion of fresh herbs.
In case you’re new to Green Goddess Dressing, no worries! I have you covered.
What is Green Goddess Dressing?:
Green Goddess Dressing is made with fresh basil and parsley, along with garlic and lemon juice. Typically, mayonnaise or sour cream is involved in order to make the dressing nice and thick and creamy.
Instead of mayonnaise, I use Greek yogurt and a little olive oil to replace the mayo. It works like a charm!
You’re left with a zesty, herby creamy dressing that is so delicious on all of your salads!
The fact that this dressing is lower in fat and lighter than your standard store-bought dressing makes eating your loaded salads that much more enticing. You can even use it on your bowl recipes to spruce them up and make them more interesting.
Ingredients for Mayo-Free Green Goddess Dressing:
Greek Yogurt: Creamy dressings are normally full of mayonnaise for creamy consistency and rich flavor. We skip the mayo here and use Greek yogurt instead!
Fresh Basil, Fresh Parsley, and Fresh Chives: The herbs that make this easy dressing recipe taste like an absolute explosion of herb deliciousness! Get creative by using your favorite fresh herbs, like fresh tarragon or fresh cilantro.
Garlic Cloves: A big push of garlic brings bold flavor to this zingy homemade dressing recipe! Adjust the amount to your personal taste.
Fresh Lemon Juice: Adds refreshing citrus flavor in addition to acidity to give the dressing life. Apple cider vinegar works too.
Sea Salt: Season the dressing to taste with salt and black pepper.

Let’s make this fresh and frisky healthy dressing recipe, shall we?

Basically drinking this straight from the jar. So good! I constructed a bowl with millet on the bottom, roasted root veggies (carrots, sweet potatoes, turnips, beets, and onions), and this greek goddess dressing on top. So so so good. Love it.
Isn’t it amazing?! Roasted root veggies with the goddess dressing sounds so good – brilliant! Thanks so much for letting me know you made and enjoyed the recipe, Alyssa!
Oh this looks divine! So much tasty goodness in there!
I try to keep my life as mayo-free as possible, so I’ve missed out on green goddess dressing for so much of my life! I feel so happy knowing that you’ve made it possible for me to experience after all! 🙂
You’ll love it!! It has soooo much flava!
Great mayo-free green dressing. Pinning 😉
Always always always looking for tasty dressings that are low in calories, because I eat a LOT of
salad. This is a winner as far as I am concerned.
This is a (mostly) mayo-free zone too… though that can be tough in Holland. I’ve been swapping mayo for yogurt or blended feta since way back! Smart lady 🙂
My ever-growing derrière (thanks to doing things like drinking boozy milkshakes and eating pie for dessert) needs more salad. Thus, I need more of this dressing. STAT!
Breakfast. Eating pie for breakfast. (Lessons in not texting you and commenting you at the same time.)
I am completely down to binding blue cheese to bacon, sign me up for that! And this dressing of course, looks absolutely divine (har har har)
I agree, this is way more diviner than that mayo-filled shit. It’s so green and purdy and I can’t wait to put it all over my bo…salad. All over my salad, heh.
hahaha! So glad you’re in the no mayo zone too! It’s where us cool kids hang. It’s a place where no one faults you for putting mayo-free salad dressing all over your bo…salads 😉
I love that you did a post souly devoted to this salad dressing, because in my mind that gives me every right to make this dressing and eat it by itself, with a spoon! I can just see the look on my husband’s face when he asks what is for dinner and I tell him, green goddess dressing 🙂 I’ve become pretty obsessed with salad dressings lately, who knew that they were so easy to make?! A fancy ranch dressing was next on my list to make, so I will definitely be adding this one to my salad dressing rotation!
I hope you had a great time camping with the girlfriends, it sounds like so much fun 🙂
Thanks, Isadora, I hope you had a great weekend, too! I’ll be posting a little salad recipe to go with the dressing tomorrow. While I 200% condone eating salad dressing with a spoon, it turns out the stuff’s pretty tasty on salad, too 😉 xoxo
I could drink Green Goddess dressing straight up. Mayo-free? My hips are happy already.
Oh yum. Ryan and I love goddess dressing but we’ve never made it at home. We’ll be giving this a try! Thank you for sharing!
You got it, lady! I hope you and Ryan enjoy! The dressing is so full of flavor and so easy to make!
I am loving this dressing! What a gorgeous color!
Ain’t she a beaut?! 🙂
It’s so funny that you posted this today because just the other day I was at a salad bar deciding on my choice of dressing and when I read “green goddess” I automatically thought it would be a good choice until I asked what it was made with and told “lots of mayo”….Love this version 🙂
Wahoo! So glad you’re up for a no mayo goddess fiesta! Let me know how you like it!
This is has got to be summers best friend! Love this mayoless version!
Have a great Memorial Day!
Thanks, love! I hope you had a fun weekend!
Awesome! I don’t want mayo on my salad either. 🙂 Love the use of Greek yogurt, it always makes dressings so creamy and delicious.
So glad you’re into yogurt-based dressings, too! Hope you enjoy! xoxo
