3-Ingredient Chocolate Banana Ice Cream - an easy no-churn paleo vegan ice cream recipe that requires no eggs, dairy, or ice cream maker!

Creamy, chocolatey, rich and sweet ice cream that only requires three ingredients and 5 minutes to make?

You’re not dreaming. This chocolate banana ice cream is not only fabulous for chocolate lovers and banana lovers alike, it is actually healthy.

Made with just ripe bananas, raw cacao powder (or cocoa powder), and a splash of full-fat coconut milk, this incredibly straightforward ice cream recipe is lower in calories than traditional ice cream. It turns out with a consistency similar to soft serve ice cream, which I find purely magical!

We use my Banana Nice Cream as the base recipe, which I’ve made countless times over the years! The only difference is we’re making it devilishly rich and creamy by infusing it with chocolate.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

  • Ultra creamy and chocolatey
  • No ice cream maker needed!
  • Vegan and dairy-free
  • Paleo-friendly
  • No eggs
  • Low fuss, quick and easy
  • No high-fructose corn syrup or refined sugar!
  • Amazingly rich and sweet

Let’s dive into the simple ingredients!

Easy Chocolate Banana Nice Cream made with 3 basic ingredients! Rich, creamy and flavorful! Vegan, Paleo, no-churn, no eggs, no dairy, no sugar!

Chocolate Banana Ice Cream Ingredients:

Frozen Bananas: The majority of the recipe is made with – you guessed it – ripe bananas that have been frozen. Just be sure to use very ripe bananas for the sweetest result! You want them to have a lot of brown spots.

Cocoa Powder: The chocolate portion of the recipe. I like using raw cacao powder which has a creamy flavor as opposed to a bitter flavor. Any unsweetened cocoa powder works!

Full-Fat Canned Coconut Milk: While the recipe can be made with just bananas and cocoa powder, I like adding some full-fat coconut milk to help the ingredients blend into a creamier consistency. Replace it with oat milk or almond milk if you’d like.

Recipe Customizations:

  • Add in 1 to 3 tablespoons of almond butter or peanut butter for a rich nutty flavor.
  • For sweeter ice cream, add in a little pure maple syrup.
  • Mix in some dark chocolate chips, because you know how to party.

Now that we’ve covered the wholesome ingredients, let’s make it!

How to Make Chocolate Banana Ice Cream:

If you haven’t already, peel and freeze your ripe bananas in a plastic bag. I simply peel mine, break them in half, then freeze them.

Some people like to chop the bananas into smaller chunks and freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet. This makes the ice cream easier to blend. This is definitely an option if you’d like!

Add everything to a high-powered blender or food processor and secure the lid.

Ingredients for banana chocolate ice cream in a blender

First blend on a lower speed to get everything to chop up and then blend on a high (to highest) speed, using your tamper (if using a blender) to help mash everything to the blade for easy blending.

Do this until the chocolate ice cream is completely combined, creamy, and there are no more chunks of banana.

If need be, stop the blender or food processor to scrape the sides before you continue blending.

Either serve immediately for soft serve consistency or transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze until completely set up.

When you’re ready to enjoy the ice cream, thaw it for a couple of minutes, scoop, and enjoy!

Chocolate Banana Ice Cream made with three basic ingredients in your blender or food processor! No dairy, eggs, sugar or ice cream maker!

Enjoy with any of your favorite wholesome ice cream toppings like coconut flakes, cacao nibs, chopped nuts, fresh fruit, etc.

And that’s it! A healthy chocolate banana ice cream recipe that may just become your newest favorite dessert!
