An easy Single-Serve Apple Cobbler recipe made with just 5 basic ingredients! The perfect amount for those times you’re craving an apple dessert but don’t want to bake a full cobbler.

Ramekin with apple cobbler and fresh apples in the background, with a spoon scooping out some apple cobbler.

Imagine you’re craving a perfect portion size of apple cobbler, but you don’t want to bake a full batch. Enter: my Single-Serve Apple Cobbler recipe.

It only requires 5 simple ingredients, tastes just like delicious cozy classic apple cobbler, and leaves you with zero tempting leftovers to call you up in the middle of the night. Plus, it contains less sugar than a regular apple crisp recipe.

If you’ve tried my Single-Serve Blueberry Cobbler, you’re already familiar with the simple process. We simply mix the filling ingredients together, followed by the topping ingredients, slam them together in an oven-safe ramekin, and bake!

The end result is the perfect fall treat that’s loaded with cinnamon goodness and is just the right level of sweetness. Ideal for those who love an apple crisp but want to stick to one serving, this easy recipe is the perfect dessert!

Let’s discuss the simple ingredients for this apple cobbler in a mug.

Ingredients for Single-Serve Apple Cobbler:

Fresh Apples: Use your favorite kind of apple for baking. I use a gala apple, but granny smith apples, pink lady apples, Jonagold apples, and honey crisp apples are all great options.

Just note that granny smith is a tart apple, so you may want to add more pure maple syrup if you go with them.

All-Purpose Flour or Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour: Use either regular flour or a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend for the cobbler topping. I use Bob’s Red Mill 1-to-1 Gluten-Free Baking Flour.

Pure Maple Syrup: The sweetener here. We need a little pure maple syrup to sweeten the apple pie filling and the cobbler topping. Feel free to add in some extra brown sugar or white sugar if you enjoy very sweet treats.

Avocado Oil: The cobbler topping needs some fat to bring the ingredients together to add richness. We also add a little oil to the apple filling to add flavor and ensure it doesn’t stick to the dish.

Ground Cinnamon: A generous amount of ground cinnamon makes this easy treat taste like fall exploded in your mouth.

Sea Salt: A pinch of salt enhances all of the flavors to max out the deliciousness.

Now that we’ve covered the basic ingredients, let’s whip one up!

How to Make Single-Serve Apple Cobbler:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Peel and chop the apple into small pieces. Transfer the chopped apple to a measuring cup along with the rest of the ingredients for the apple filling (pure maple syrup, avocado oil, flour, ground cinnamon, and a little sea salt). Mix everything together until the apple pieces are well coated.

In a separate measuring cup, mix together the ingredients for the cobbler topping (flour, avocado oil, pure maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and sea salt) until well combined.

Transfer the apple filling mixture to an oven-safe ramekin, followed by the cobbler topping. Cover the ramekin with aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet.

Bake on the center rack of the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes (30 minutes for al dente apples, 40 minutes for softer apples) until the apples are soft and golden brown. Remove the cinnamon apple cobbler from the oven and allow it to sit for 10 minutes, still covered in foil, to cool.

Serve, and enjoy! Remember that the ramekin is still very hot, so be careful when handling it. I love this easy apple crumble with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of fresh whipped cream for a creamy element.

If you have leftovers, cover the ramekin with plastic wrap or transfer what’s remaining to an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 5 days.

Recipe Tips:

  1. You can easily double or triple the recipe if you’re looking to serve 2-3 people. Otherwise, make my Healthy Apple Crisp (using almond flour) or Gluten-Free Apple Cobbler for a full batch.
  2. Swap the avocado oil for melted butter if you prefer. I recommend using slightly more butter than oil because it is less greasy and we need the fat for flavor.
  3. If you use a sweet apple instead of tart apples, add in a tiny splash of lemon juice to get a little tangy flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this with almond flour?

Yes! For an almond flour version, mix together the following ingredients for the topping:
¼ cup almond flour
2 tsp avocado oil
2 tsp pure maple syrup
½ tsp ground cinnamon
Pinch sea salt

Leave the rest of the ingredients and instructions the same.

What are the best apples for apple crisp?

Use any kind of apples that you love in an apple dessert. My top pick is gala apples because they are sweet and also firm enough to hold up during the baking process. If you prefer tangy flavor, go with green apples.

  1. Emily says:

This recipe worked well for us. Since the apple was rather large, I was able to adequately divide it between 2 bowls. I doubled the amount of the other ingredients and it easily made twice as much! Looking forward to trying your other single-serve cobblers – thank you for a delicious recipe!
