In a world where we can make pizza out of cauliflower and cookies out of garbanzo beans, why wouldn’t we turn avocadoes into fries??

Well, this just in!

I’m sharing my go-to method for crispy BAKED avocado “fries,” which I assure you is much healthier than the deep fried alternative.

These crispy baked avocado fries are not only a super cinch to prepare, but they make for amazing finger food for sharing.

If you’re like me and you crave crunchy foods, you’ll LOVE this healthy crunch quencher!

SUPER crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, I’m thinking these avocado fries are a simple, healthy, fun snack to whip up for the whole family.

They’re grain-free, paleo, keto, whole30, and so fun and easy to make.

So let’s get started!

Grain-Free Baked Avocado Fries with an Air Fryer Option - crispy baked avocado fries are delightfully crispy, are low-carb, gluten-free, and make for an amazing appetizer or snack.

How to Make Crispy Baked Avocado Fries:

Start with avocados that are just barely ripe, so they are still firm. Halve the avocados with a sharp knife and remove the pits.

Cut thick slices. I like halving the slices so that they are easier to dip, but you can keep the slices long if you’d like.

Remove the slices from the outer peel and place on a plate.

Mix together the flour mixture, and whisk the egg with a couple tablespoons of oil.

Dredge each slice in the egg mixture, followed by the flour mixture.

Place each slice on a parchment lined baking sheet. On your marks, get set, BAKE!

Once the avocado slices have reached your desired level of crisp, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool. They will crisp up even more as they cool!

If you have an air fryer, even better! Here are the instructions for Air Fryer Avocado Fries:

Air Fryer Avocado Fries:

  1. Preheat your Air Fryer to 400 degrees F.
  2. Halve the avocados with a sharp knife and remove the pits. Cut thick slices. Remove the slices from the outer peel and place on a plate.
  3. Mix together the flour almond flour, shredded coconut, tapioca flour, salt, and paprika and transfer the mixture to a plate.
  4. Whisk together the egg and oil in a bowl until well-combined. Dredge each slice in the egg mixture, followed by the flour mixture.
  5. Transfer the avocado slices to the preheated air fryer for and cook for 4 minutes. Flip the avocado slices over and cook until golden-brown, about another 3 minutes.

Be sure to make the dipping sauce too!

How to Store Avocado Fries:

Avocado fries are best when serves fresh out of the oven or air fryer, but you can save any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator. They won’t turn brown, but they will loose a little crisp.

To reheat avocado fries, you can place them in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, or do the same in the regular oven.

Chipotle Dipping Sauce:

Prepare the Chipotle Dipping Sauce:

  • Combine all ingredients for the chipotle dipping sauce in a small bowl and stir well. Taste for flavor and add more chipotle chilis, sea salt, or lime juice to taste.

Notes

*For keto, omit the tapioca flour. It is only a small amount of tapioca flour, so it won't influence the carb count very much, but it also isn't essential to the recipe.

What could I use instead of the coconut? Any ideas?

Hi Laurie! You could leave out the shredded coconut and add 1/4 cup more almond flour :) Hope you love them! xo

This great, however, how can 1 serving be 1 (ONE) gram??? 1 very SMALL wedge is 25 grams! I erroneously thought it said ounces and ate 5 Oz of it which is over 400 grams 😳😳😳

Hi Kim,

The 1 serving = 1 gram notation is a default in my recipe cards. I had not filled in the nutritional information yet. It's there now. xo

These look wonderful. Cooking avocados has never even occurred to me. I’m wondering if these keep well in the fridge. I saw that these are an ingredient in your breakfast tacos but I know I don’t have time to fix these before I leave for work. If I do them the night before, will they be ok?

Hi there! They do keep well in the fridge! Something about the baking process helps keep the avocados fresh (they don't turn brown)...it's like pure magic! I reheat them in a skillet on the stove top, but Brian's suggestion using an air fryer is awesome, too! You can also reheat them in the oven (I'd just avoid the microwave ;) ) Hope you enjoy! xo

I was actually wondering the same thing. Made too many of them last night. I put the leftover in a plastic container and pulled them out today for reheat. I stuck them in an AirFryer for 10 to 15 min at 400F. They freshened up very nicely.

These are really good! Great recipe! I did take half of the recipe and change it up a little. I put the wet mix with the dry mix in a blender with the avocado and some parmesan. I then made little pancakes out of the mixture.

Ooooooh that sounds fabulous!! I'm going to try that ASAP! Thanks, Brian!
