This easy Hot Honey Salmon recipe is here to liven up your weeknight meals and inspire you to celebrate the sweet and savory duo.
Because I love the combination of butter and honey, I add melted butter to the hot honey for what I consider to be the elixir of the Gods.
The combination of rich salmon with the sweet and creamy drizzle sends a message of peace and abundance to your taste buds. The best part? This easy recipe is quick and simple enough to make any night of the week, yet fancy enough to serve at a special occasion.
Letโs discuss the simple ingredients! The full list of ingredients can be found at any grocery store.
Hot Honey Salmon Ingredients:
Fresh Salmon: Choose your favorite kind of salmon! Because I love fatty fish, I go for wild-caught King salmon or Atlantic Salmon. Sockeye salmon works too, and it requires less cooking time.
Avocado Oil: Coating the salmon with avocado oil promotes an amazing crisp on the outside and protects the salmon during the baking process. Donโt use olive oil, as it will burn.
Garlic Powder, Paprika, Sea Salt, Black Pepper: This simple combination of spices adds lovely flavor to the salmon without the need for a tremendous amount of ingredients.
Salted Butter: Brings creamy deliciousness to the hot honey drizzle. You can skip the butter if youโd like, but I find it adds something special.
Honey: The best supporting actor! Honey adds sweetness to offset the richness of the fish. The combination of rich natural flavors of the salmon and the sweet makes this easy main dish extra special. Regular honey works great and there is no need for a fancy honey.
Recipe Customizations:
- For a little kick of spice, add red pepper flakes or hot sauce to the honey sauce.
- Mix lemon juice and lemon zest into the sauce.
- Marinate the salmon in my Salmon Marinade for extra flavor.
- Now that weโre familiar with the fresh ingredients, letโs make hot honey salmon!
How to Make Hot Honey Salmon:
Remove the salmon from its packaging and pat off any excess moisture with paper towels.
Transfer the salmon filets to a large casserole dish or a rimmed sheet pan or baking dish. Drizzle with avocado oil, sprinkle with sea salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
Broil for 10-13 minutes, until golden brown, depending on the thickness of the fish. Salmon is cooked through when it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. Insert a digital thermometer into the thickest part of the salmon fillets to get an accurate read.
While the salmon is cooking in the oven, prepare the hot honey sauce. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the microwave, then mix in the honey.
Drizzle the hot honey over the top of the salmon and serve! I recommend serving salmon with brown rice and a salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Enjoy leftovers the next day for a delicious lunch. To reheat salmon, I recommend using an air fryer, toaster oven or regular oven rather than microwaving.

Hot Honey Salmon Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound salmon
- 2 tsp avocado oil
- Sea salt to taste
- ยฝ tsp garlic powder
- ยฝ tsp paprika
- 2 Tbsp salted butter
- 2 Tbsp honey
Instructions
- Transfer the salmon filets to a large baking dish. Drizzle with avocado oil and use your hands or a silicone brush to coat all of the flesh with oil. Sprinkle the fish with sea salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Turn your oven on the High Broil setting and place the casserole dish on the shelf that is third from the top. Broil for 10-13 minutes, or until the salmon is crispy on the outside and fully cooked. Insert a digital thermometer into the thickest part of the fish to check its internal temperature. Salmon is fully cooked once it reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
- While the salmon is cooking in the oven, prepare the hot honey. To do so, heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a small bowl in the microwave for 20-40 seconds, or until melted. Butter has a tendency to spatter in the microwave, so I recommend covering the bowl with something such as a small lid or a plate. Once melted, mix the honey into the butter. If the honey doesnโt mix easily, microwave again for 10 seconds.
- Drizzle hot honey mixture over the salmon, and enjoy! Serve salmon with a salad, roasted vegetables, rice, etc. If youโd like, you can make extra honey butter to drizzle over the rice and veggies in your meal too.
