A green smoothie including nutrient dense superfoods like kale, almond milk, avocado, and blueberries. Also yogurt and bananas!
Green Superfood SmoothieA smoothie a day has been my modus operandi as of late.

Due in large part to smoothies playing a role in my cookbook, Delicious Probiotic Drinks, I have created all sorts of variations of fruit smoothies and green smoothies.

One general recipe I return to over and over is this simple yet delicious and nutritious creamy superfood shake recipe.

This superfood smoothie is a well-balanced meal in a glass.

It includes spinach (or kale), avocado, blueberries and almond milk which are all nutrient dense superfoods. Plus yogurt (probiotics and protein) and bananas (yum!).

Add protein powder for a bigger boost of protein!

What Does “Superfood” Mean?

Put simply, superfoods are those that are packed with a dense concentration of Vitamins, minerals, and/or antioxidants in a relatively small volume.

Great examples of superfoods are leafy greens, berries, beets, cocoa, sweet potatoes, garlic, green tea, salmon, nuts, and more.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

The balance of omega fatty acids, protein, vitamins and fructose make for a healthful meal in a cup. And it’s green!

If you’re looking for a tasty and easy way of getting a high concentration of nutrients, particularly in the morning or after a workout, this green smoothie is perfect.

Superfood smoothies are a great way of getting a major dose of Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and protein in one swig!

Mix it up using your favorite fresh fruit and vegetables to customize it to your heart’s delight.

I tried the smoothie this morning. I have added avocado to smoothies lots of times. I know it may sound weird to some people but its really very good and helps me feel full longer. Ithink its a good idea to put together a probiotic cookbook because a lot of people suffer from candida – myself included. I think its a good idea to have a drinks/smoothie section in your cook book.

Melissa, thanks so much for trying it and for your feedback! I love the health benefits of green smoothies and am happy to try various recipes myself, so feel free to send some my way! I have heard candida can be quite the struggle so I’m sending a big hug your way. It’s great that you are controling it through your diet, so my hat’s off to you!
