Almond Flour Apple Bread made with wholesome ingredients for a feel-good fall treat! Enjoy apple season to its fullest with this moist and fluffy quick bread!
Because my Almond Flour Blueberry Bread was such a hit, I decided to revisit the topic using fresh apples.
The end result is a moist, fluffy, and grain-free treat that’s studded with fresh fruit, leaving you feeling satisfied without a sugar crash.
My favorite part about this apple bread recipe is it tastes so lovely and inviting in spite of being grain-free, refined sugar-free. You’d never guess it isn’t made with regular flour and sugar!
Packed with warmly-spiced flavors, just the right level of sweetness and tender chunks of apples, this paleo apple bread is worthy of putting on repeat no matter the time of year!
Let’s discuss the wholesome ingredients for this healthy apple bread.
Ingredients for Almond Flour Apple Bread:
Almond Flour: Taking the place of regular all-purpose flour, we’re using almond flour to make naturally grain-free and gluten-free apple bread. Almond Flour generates a light and fluffy texture, and also imparts protein, fiber, and healthy fats.
Tapioca Flour: Provides starch to generate the perfect fluffy texture. The combination of almond flour and tapioca flour creates a texture that is very similar to regular flour.
Fresh Apples: Pick your favorite kind! I used envy apples this time around, but granny smith, pink lady apples, honeycrisp apples, or any other type of apples works great.
Eggs: A few eggs help the batter rise and creates a moist crumb for the perfect texture.
Pure Maple Syrup: The sweetener here! I prefer using pure maple syrup over cane sugar because it is less processed, and I also love the maple flavor it imparts in this fall treat.
Pumpkin Pie Spice or Apple Pie Spice: The combination of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ground ginger, and cloves, and allspice brings warmly-spiced flavor to this healthy apple bread. If you don’t have pumpkin spice on hand, you can either make your own blend or simply swap it out for ground cinnamon.
Pure Vanilla Extract: Adds warm flavor to this healthy quick bread.
Baking Powder: The leavening agent.
Sea Salt: Enhances all of the flavors for an autumn delight!
Recipe Customizations:
- If you prefer baking with oats or oat flour, make my Oatmeal Apple Bread.
- Would you rather use gluten-free flour? Make my Gluten-Free Apple Bread.
- Swap out the pure maple syrup for 2/3 cup of coconut sugar plus 1/3 cup of melted coconut oil or olive oil.
- I haven’t tested the recipe using an egg replacer like flax eggs. Let me know if the comments if you do!
- Mix in 2/3 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans or sprinkle the top of the bread with chopped nuts.
Now that we’ve covered the basic ingredients, let’s bake a loaf of healthy apple cinnamon bread!
How to Make Almond Flour Apple Bread:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
Mix together the eggs, pure maple syrup, and vanilla extract in a large bowl (the wet ingredients).
In a separate bowl, stir together the almond flour, tapioca flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, and sea salt (dry ingredients).
Pour the dry ingredients into the bowl with the wet ingredients and mix well.
Stir in the chopped apples.
Pour the apple bread batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it into an even layer. Cover the bread pan with aluminum foil and bake on the center rack of the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until the bread is baked through.
Insert a digital thermometer into the center of the bread. If it is 190 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, it is cooked through.
Let the bread cool completely to room temperature before slicing and serving. I like to heat up a slice with some butter or almond butter on top for the ultimate afternoon snack.
Storage Options:
- Room Temperature: Cover the loaf pan with plastic wrap and store on the counter for up to 2 days.
- Refrigerator: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- Freezer: For longer term storage, slice the remaining loaf and freeze in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.
The next time you’re craving an apple treat, whip up this easy quick bread!
