You know what we could all use a little more of in life? Jamaican food. Have you ever tried it?
I’ve seen recipes for Jamaican Jerk such and such and Jamaican-spiced wooptyloop, and wondered for the longest time what all of that meant.
I finally did some research on the cuisine when I set out to make this recipe for Oh My Veggies. I learned that Jamaican food uses a lot of seasoning, which speaks to my heart strings because I’m a sucker for big, spice-centric flavor. You can saunter over to OMV and learn all about Jamaican cuisine, but first: get a load of these onions:
This is my first ever attempt at Jamaican food and seriously, smalls, it ain’t no biggity big. As in it’s not a big deal to put together. But it is a big deal in your mouth. If you’ve never tried Jamaican food, this is the perfect recipe for a first run at it. It’s straight-forward and all the spices shine through with warm flavor.
This Jamaican Chickpea Stew takes about a split second to make. I guarantee you already have all of the ingredients stashed in your zombie apocalypse/New World Order pantry. So you could get up and go make it right now. We could call this the Get Up and Go Stew.
