Grape and Blueberry Protein Smoothie with a secret protein ingredient

You guys, this is the scrambled egg smoothie I was telling you about in my last post, Shakshouka with Kale and Mushrooms

I honestly didn’t foresee you expressing any interest in an egg-containing smoothie, least of all a scrambled egg-containing smoothie, but you guys just seemed to take to the idea like white on rice. So here she be, folks, drink ‘er up!

Ingredients for Blueberry Protein Smoothie:

This smoothie is really very simple! Nothing funky about it at all except for the scrambled egg. Blueberries, banana, frozen grapes, OJ, and almond milk are what wake you up in a real way.

I added a dash of cinnamon, because if we’re adding scrambled eggs to things, we may as well add cinnamon too, yes? How’s that for logic?

I’ve been meaning to ask you: have you eaten frozen grapes before? You absolutely should freeze your grapes from now till doomsday, because they make for real good eating. Adding them to smoothies is brilliant because they make the beverage sweet and cold.

I almost named this “The Rise and Shine Smoothie.” Obnoxious? I thought so too.

When I was a kid, my mom would come into my room each morning and say, “Riiiiiiise and shiiiiine…” and immediately after I rolled my Raggedy Ann self downstairs, my father would hand me a glass of orange juice and a plate of scrambled eggs and toast.

So basically, this smoothie is all of those mornings put in a blender. Minus the toast.

You think I’m off my rocker. I get it. But inspiration for this smoothie came from Better Homes & Gardens’s Blueberry Sunrise Smoothie. What?

You thought I was clever enough to come up with the egg idea on my own? I’m flattered and blushing, but it was the masterminds at BHG who done did it first. That doesn’t make me any more on my rocker, but at least it can give you some faith in this smooth move.

Flavor/texture-wise, this beverage tastes like a blueberry smoothie. You can’t taste the scrambled egg, and it has no funky texture. Parents: this is a great way of getting your kids to eat eggs. Add kale, and you’re in the money.

Enjoy your weekend, my friends! And enjoy your scrambled eggs.

You could just use pasturised liquid egg whites instead of having to scramble an egg, I would have thought.

Scramble egg on a smoothie is a great stuff. Wanna try add it to my energy booster smoothie choco & banana. Thanks for sharing this idea. Let's do this.

This is veeeeeery interesting! I know folks who put raw eggs into their smoothies, but I've never heard of adding cooked eggs! I'm far too squeamish (and know far too much about food born illnesses) to add raw egg to my smoothies, but cooked eggs I can get on board with. I pretty much thought I couldn't get any weirder than adding beans to my smoothies, but hey, there ya go. I'm gonna try this!

I'm pretty sure if there is one thing I've never thought to put into a smoothie...it's scrambled eggs. But I am actually SUPER intrigued. Must try!
